To help you pick the right ship and itinerary, we have listed most of the destinations in North, Central and South America, as well as the Hawaiian Islands that our cruise line partners are planning to visit on their next world cruises on these pages.  Although a few words can never do justice to the magnificent places that you can visit, we hope to pique your wanderlust with the following short descriptions for each location or port.  We have also included an indicator to show which ship(s) call on that port during a world cruise or grand voyage.  Ports are listed in alphabetical order by the name of the main city or destination.  If the port city has a different name, it is listed in brackets.

The Americas

Acapulco - Mexico

Once the favorite retreat of the Hollywood elite, this is the place for shopping for silver and handicrafts at the market places, seeing the famed cliff divers or simply relaxing on the beach with a Margarita.

Aruba

Part of the Dutch Caribbean, this sunny island is blessed with near perfect weather.  Miles of long white sandy beaches and azure waters make Aruba a wonderful place for beach enthusiasts, while others can shop to their heart's content in the colorful Dutch-colonial style capital of Oranjestad.  You can also drive through the windswept desert country side, or perhaps go snorkeling or diving.

Barbados (Bridgetown)

British culture and history mix with spectacular natural wonders in beautiful Barbados.  You can enjoy great duty-free shopping or head for Turtle Bay to go kayaking, snorkeling or scuba diving.

Buenos Aires - Argentina

Known as the Paris of South America, Buenos Aires offers an interesting mix of colonial buildings, beautiful tree lined promenades and exquisite food.  Learn the tango in one of the many tango schools, see the famous Casa Rosada presidential palace and pay your respects to Evita Peron in the beautiful Recoleta cemetery.

Cabo San Lucas - Mexico

Located at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas main attractions include the famous Playa del Amor beach and El Arco, the natural rock formations that jut from the sea.  Perfect for snorkeling, too!

Cartagena - Columbia

A Spanish colonial gem, Cartagena offers scenic walking in the beautiful and historic walled Old Town, as well as attractions like Las Bovedas, a former dungeon that is now a bustling artisan community, and the gorgeous Church of San Pedro Claver.

Devil's Island - French Guiana

The small "Ile du Diable" is the smallest island of the three "Iles du Salut" located about 6 nautical miles off the coast of French Guiana.  With an illustrious past as a French penal colony, Devil's Island is a lush, tropical island of abundant foliage and great views.  

Fort Lauderdale, Florida - United States

Seven pristine miles of beach beckon you to spend a few hours sunbathing.  But you can also see the natural splendor of the Everglades, marvel at magnificent mansions from a water taxi on the Intracoastal Waterway or shop on Las Olas Boulevard.

Fortaleza - Brazil

The capital of the State of Ceara, Fortaleza has been one of the most popular destinations of Brazilian tourists for decades.  In recent years, the fame of Fortaleza has been growing amongst international visitors too, largely due to its extensive range of urban beaches, great nightlife and excellent cuisine.

Grand Cayman - Cayman Islands

Swim with the stingrays at Stingray City, dive or snorkel in some of the clearest waters in the Caribbean, send a post card from "Hell" or relax on exquisite white sand beaches.

Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii - United States

Visit inspiring sites like the U.S.S. Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor Memorial or learn how to surf on famed Waikiki Beach.  Drive along the beautiful North Shore, snorkel with the fishes in Hanauma Bay, try the delicious "shave ice" or simply relax on one of the many, many beaches.

Kauai (Nawiliwili), Hawaii - United States

Hawaii's "Garden Isle" is one of the greenest places on Earth. With tropical rain forests, stunning beaches, Hawaii's own canyon and the beautiful Hanalei Valley, Kauai is certain to fulfill your expectations of Hawaii.

Lima (Callao) - Peru

Lima, the capital of Peru, was founded by the conquistadors in 1535 and was the center of Spanish rule in South America at the time.  Much of the history and culture of that time is still visible in the Historic Center of Lima. A large selection of excellent mueseums further explains the history of this cultural melting pot.

Limon - Costa Rica

Costa Rica is known for its beautiful natural treasures, lush, dense rain forests and volcanoes.  Take the Rain Forest Aerial Tram, cruise on the Tortuguero Canals to see tropical flora and fauna or visit the sloth sanctuary. 

Los Angeles, California - United States

The City of Angels is known for its sunny Southern California culture and includes the attractions of star-studded Hollywood, shopping on exclusive Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and relaxing at quirky Venice Beach.  You may also visit some excellent museums, like the famous Getty Center or the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Maui (Lahaina),  Hawaii - United States

Often voted the best island in the world, breathtaking Maui offers you an extinct volcano, great beaches, the stunning road to Hana and excellent golf courses with some of the most beautiful ocean views in the world.  Closer to the ship, Lahaina is a former whaling town that is now a charming shopping mecca. And in season, you're likely to see whales not too far from your ship!

Manta - Ecuador

The port city of Manta is known for some excellent beaches, popular for surfing and kitesurfing.  The small town of Montecristi offers colonial architecture and is recognized as the original birthplace of the Panama straw hat, produced in Ecuador despite the name.

Miami, Florida - United States

Enjoy the hip vibe and great nightlife of South Beach, shop in the Bayside Center or one of the more upscale malls, sail past the homes of the rich and famous or relax on one of the many beaches before sailing away from the conveniently located Port of Miami.

Montevideo - Uruguay

The capital of Uruguay combines a mixture of Spanish and British history and colonial and modern architecture set in a compact city.  Try some mate, a favorite beverage here, stroll through the old town or visit the memorial on the Plaza Independencia.

New York, New York - United States

Visit landmarks like the Empire State Building, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island.  Linger over lunch in Central Park. See world-class art at the Guggenheim or Museum of Modern Art.  Catch a matinee show on Broadway, shop on Fifth Avenue or in the Village.  You'll never run out of things to do in New York.

Panama Canal - Panama

This incredible marvel of engineering took 400 years of dreaming and planning before it could finally be built.  It'll take you about eight hours to sail through its three sets of locks and the Gatun Lake: 51 miles of wonder and awe.

Puerto Quetzal - Guatemala

In Guatemala, the small Pacific port of Puerto Quetzal is named after the beautiful Quetzal bird that makes its home here and that was sacred to the ancient Mayans who once lived here.  Visit the colonial sights of the historical capital of Antigua.

Puntarenas - Costa Rica

Costa Rica is fabled for its natural wonders - and from the port of Puntarenas, you'll have many options.  Head to the world-famous Monteverde Cloud Forest, go wild water rafting or enjoy the friendly city of San Jose.

Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

Stunning Rio de Janeiro does not need much of an introduction: who hasn't heard of the beautiful beaches of Ipanema, Copacabana and Leblon - the perfect spots for people-watching.  Prefer a higher vantage point?  Make the trip to Sugarloaf Mountain or the Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain.

Salvador de Bahia - Brazil

Salvador de Bahia is known for its outrageous festivals and colorful carnival celebration.  It also offers wonderful beaches, a historic lighthouse and fortress and the Elevador Lacerdo, an art deco lift that connects the upper with the lower town.

San Blas - Panama

Discover the spectacular San Blas archipelago of over 350 individual isles in all.  The native Kuna people that live here will be happy to share their culture  and heritage with you.

Blessed with an almost perfect climate, San Diego boasts miles of beaches, a wonderful zoo, the famous Balboa Park and Sea World.

San Francisco, California - United States

Sail under the Golden Gate Bridge, shop for kitschy souvenirs at Embarcadero or see the inside of the infamous Alcatraz prison.  Take a ferry to quaint Tiburon, shop on Union Square or in China Town, or simply enjoy the stunning views from the hills of this photogenic city.

St. Lucia (Castries), West Indies

The gorgeous island of St. Lucia is what you expect the Caribbean to look like: lush rainforests, gorgeous beaches, stunning flowers and even a "drive-in" volcano!  The famous Piton mountains stand guard over one of the most beautiful places you'll find in the Caribbean.

Embark on an exciting train ride to see one of Mexico's most magnificent sights: Copper Canyon is a marvelous series of canyons that are larger and in some places even deeper than the Grand Canyon!
