Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates
Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Here you can explore the emirate's old souks, try fragrant Arabic coffee or explore the desert during a desert safari. Abu Dhabi combines a rich history with sunny weather and tranquil beaches.
Al Fujairah - United Arab Emirates
The most mountainous of the seven United Arab Emirates, Fujairah is also the only emirate located on the Gulf of Oman. Not nearly as developed as Dubai or Abu Dhabi, Fujairah offers a glimpse into the local customs of the United Arab Emirates.
Alexandria (for Cairo/Giza) - Egypt
In addition to Port Said, the Mediterranean port of Alexandria gives access to the wonders of the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphynx, as well as the Cairo Museum. But this former capital of Egypt is destination on its own too with plenty to discover, including the famous Library of Alexandria and the fort built on the location of the first lighthouse in the world.

Aqaba (For Petra) - Jordan
From the Jordanian port of Aqaba, you can travel to the ancient site of Petra. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this dramatic destination is made up of temples and buildings carved into the red stone mountains and will certainly be a highlight of your world cruise.

Athens (Piraeus) - Greece
Much of the glory of Athens' historical past is still very much accessible: visit the Parthenon on the Acropolis, stroll through the narrow streets of the Plaka neighborhood, visit the new Acropolis museum and observe the changing of the guards at the Parliament building.

Bahrain (Manama)
The Kingdom of Bahrain is made up of 33 islands. Although more commonly known as a business destination, Bahrain does also offer tourists plenty of activity. You can visit historical forts and residences, go deep sea fishing or shop to your heart's content.
Bandar Abbas - Iran
Decidedly off the beaten path, Bandar Abbas was formery known as Gameron or Qamerun and is located in the Southern part of Iran.
Barcelona - Spain
Walk the Ramblas promenade, see the Gothic quarter with its cathedral, visit Gaudi's masterpiece of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, enjoy tapas on the Plaza Real or stroll the many alleys and shopping streets. Sandy beaches are within easy reach too.

Bilbao - Spain
Bilbao is the capital of the Spanish Basque country and offers visitors a wide array of activities and sights. Some of the more recent ones are the Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, the Fine Arts Museum and a bridge by Calatrava. More historic attractions include a cathedral, the Plaza Nueva, the Rivera market and the opera house.

Cairo/Giza (Sokhna) - Egypt
From Port Said, the Mediterranean entry to the Suez Canal, or Sokhna, you drive in a few hours to the bustling metropolis of Cairo and the wonders of the Pyramids and Sphinx in Giza. (See Alexandria, another port that gives access to Cairo/Giza.) In Cairo, visit the Egyptian Museum's extensive collection of important pieces of history, mummies and an amazing selection of artifacts from King Tutankhamun. Cross the Nile and make your way to Giza where you'll marvel at the 4,000 year old Pyramids.

Cape Town - South Africa
Originally founded in 1652 by the Dutch East India Company, Cape Town sits on a spectacular bay beneath Table Mountain along the peninsula of the Cape of Good Hope. Its many attractions include the cable car ride up to Table Mountain, a historic waterfront, the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve at the tip of Africa and Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were held captive. You can even visit penguins in their home near the Southwestern tip of Africa!

Catania, Sicily - Italy
Subjected to the Etna volcano in its illustrious history, the second largest city in Sicily offers many traces of its past, including two amphitheatres, the Ursino Castle and a beautiful Cathedral. You will also find wide boulevards and palazzos built in the 18th century, and a short ride away is the famous resort town of Taormina.

Dubai - United Arab Emirates
One of the most rapidly developing cities in the world, Dubai provides an amazing array of options. Visit the man-made Palm or The World islands. See the iconic Burj al Arab hotel. Head into the desert for "dune bashing", an exhilarating desert safari in a jeep through the sand dunes before you enjoy refreshments at a traditional village. Ski in the desert on the artificial slopes of Ski Dubai, shop in airconditioned comfort in one of the many upscale malls, or bargain hunt in the traditional Gold Souk.

Dubrovnik - Croatia
Walk on the city walls that surround the old city of Dubrovnik and imagine what it must have been like to live here when those walls were originally built. Then, stroll through one of the many cobblestone paths and admire the churches, cloisters and historical gems in this stunning Mediterranean city.
Durban - South Africa
Durban boasts a subtropical climate with golden beaches and balmy seas. You can experience the city's Indian influences at the vibrant Victoria Street Market. For a more African experience, learn about Zulu tribal life on a visit to Shakaland in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal.

Florence/Pisa (Livorno) - Italy
From the port city of Livorno you can access beautiful Florence, famous for its cathedral, the statue of David, the Uffizi Gallery and the bridges over the river Arno. Closer to Livorno is Pisa with its famous Leaning Tower.

Gibraltar - United Kingdom
Although located on the Southern coast of Spain, the rocky outcrop of Gibraltar is a self-governed British overseas territory. Famous for its Barbary Macaques, the only wild monkeys found in Europe, the Rock of Gibraltar takes a very important place in European history.
Istanbul - Turkey
Straddling Europe and Asia, the cosmopolitan city of Istanbul combines the history and culture of Arabia and Asia with Europe. Visit the famous Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque or the Hagia Sophia, shop in the Grand Bazaar or enjoy the excellent nightlife.
Jeddah - Saudi Arabia
A stop in Jeddah offers you a glimpse into the country of Saudi Arabia which generally is not on very many leisure travelers' itineraries. Here, you can visit the Old Town, see one of the many museums and learn more about life in the Middle East.
Jerusalem/Tel Aviv (Ashdod) - Israel
The rather industrial port of Ashdod gives easy access to the theological and cultural wonders of Jerusalem. Visit the Old City, walk in Jesus' footsteps on the Via Dolorosa, see the Western (Wailing) Wall and the olive garden of Ghetsemane for yourself. You could also travel to the West Bank and visit the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem. Alternatively, go to the beach in the modern city of Tel Aviv, or walk the walls of the old city of Jaffa.

Khasab - Oman
Located on the Musandam peninsula, about 500 km from Muscat, Khasab is sometimes referred to as the Norway of Arabia because of its natural beauty - majestic cliffs and hills surround crystal clear waters that offer spectacular snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing. You may also explore Telegraph Hill, the Khasab Fort and find local pottery in one of the markets.
Kusadasi for Ephesus - Turkey
The port city of Kusadasi provides easy access to the hitorical site of Ephesus, one of the best preserved historical ruins of Roman times, including the famous Library of Celsus. Nearby is the home where the Virgin Mary is said to have spent her last years, as well as the ruins of the Cathedral of St. John.

Kuwait City - Kuwait
The city of Kuwait is the undisputed political, cultural and economic centre of the emirate of Kuwait. In recent history, the country has known both war and wealth. You can see the Liberation Tower, built as a sign of resurgence, visit the Kuwait Towers or the National Museum.
La Rochelle - France
The Atlantic port of La Rochelle offers some beautiful architectural and cultural heritage sites, including the Vieux Port (Old Harbor) as well as access to the Ile de Re by bridge. Explore the rich marine history in the maritime museum, or enjoy fresh seafood in one of the many restaurants.
Lisbon - Portugal
The capital of Portugal is located at the mouth of the Tagus River. Sail under the enormous 1.5 mile long 25th of April Bridge as you enter the harbor and see the Torre de Belem monument, the Monument to the Discoveries and the historic Jeronimos monastery in the Belem district. Next, enjoy the grand squares and boulevards and the quaint elevators that take you to the Bairo Alto, the "upper quarter". The Christ the King statue keeps a watchful eye on the from the other side of the river, somewhat resembling the Christ statue on Rio de Janeiro's Corcovado mountain.

Ljubljana (Koper) - Slovenia
Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia, with a beautiful historic center that mixes the architectural styles of Baroque and Vienna Secession. Ljubljana Castle towers over the river Ljubljanica. St. Nicholas Cathedral and a number of churches, bridges and fountains make Ljubljana an interesting place to visit.

London (Dover) - United Kingdom
The port of Southampton and the White Cliffs city of Dover are both less than two hours from the many attractions of London, including Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, world-class museums and exclusive shops.
Closer to Southampton you'll find the beautiful Gothic Cathedral of Winchester, and the mysterious prehistoric monument of Stonehenge is about one hour from Southampton.

Luxor/Karnak (Safaga) - Egypt
Safaga provides you with access to one of Egypt's most revered places: the temple complexes in Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes, and Karnak. You'll be awestruck by the massive monuments to Egypt's gods and pharaohs, or your visit to the Valley of the King and Valley of the Queens.

Madeira (Funchal) - Portugal
The archipelago of Madeira is closer to the coast of Africa than to the European continent. With its volcanic soil and unique location comes a wonderful climate and an abundance of flowers and greenery. The island is of course also famous for its Madeira wine and a variety of interesting historical buildings - and unique pastimes. How about a tobbogan ride down the steep streets towards the city of Funchal?
Mombasa - Kenya
Mombasa boasts some of the best beaches in Africa as well as a diverse cultural history with traditions traced back to Portuguese, Arab and British settlers. City tours and safaris can also be included in your plans.
Monte Carlo - Monaco
The tiny principality of Monaco sits on a few square miles on the coast of France. Famous for its Casino and of course the Grand Prix, the Palace and Cathedral are also worth a visit. Relax with lunch overlooking the gorgeous million Dollar yachts in the marina or see one of the nearby villages like Eze and Villefrance-sur-Mer.

Muscat - Oman
Oman's capital Muscat is located on the Arabian Sea, where city walls, a historic souk on the Corniche and a mosaic of sparkling white buildings and golden minarets wait to be explored. Shop for silver and incense, or other unique local souvenirs.

Naples - Italy
A major city destination in itself (and the birthplace of pizza!), Naples also provides easy access to the famous ruins of Pompei and the island of Capri, as well as the Amalfi Coast and its famous towns like Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi.
Odessa - Ukraine
Located on the Black Sea, the city of Odessa has much to offer, with a historic old town, a beautiful opera house and nice beaches.
Port Elizabeth - South Africa
Known for sunshine and safe sandy beaches, Port Elizabeth also provides historical attractions like the Donkin Heritage Trail that follows the footsteps of the 1820 Settlers; the Prince Albert's Guard Memorial and the Pearson Conservatory and beautiful parks, including the world famous Port Elizabeth Cricket Club. About 73 km from the city is the Shamwari Game Reserve which is home to the "Big Five" animals of Africa.

A tropical island paradise just off the coast of Africa, Mauritius is home to friendly people, palm-lined beaches and crystal clear waters.

Rome (Civitavecchia) - Italy
The mighty Colosseum, Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel frescoes by Michaelangelo, the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, the historic ruins of the Forum - Rome truly is a city where you'll find one interesting site after the other. Fans of the Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons" could even arrange to visit many of the sites that play so prominently in the book.

Salalah - Oman
Modern day's Salalah combines the new with the old: after all, it has been a major trading port for centuries. That means you can shop the city's traditional markets and see its famous frankincense trees. Then explore the interesting exhibits at the Salalah Museum.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands - Spain
Tenerife is Spain's most populous island and located just off the coast of Africa. Wonderful weather, beaches, a wonderful opera building and a variety of truly interesting museums make this a great destination for almost every World Cruise guest.

St. Helena - British Overseas Territory
St. Helena is a small windswept island, about 1,200 miles off the coast of Africa that was discovered by the Portuguese over 500 years ago. It is probably best known as the place where Napoleon Bonaparte died during his second exile. It's also home to some of the world's best coffee plantations.
Sharm-El-Sheikh - Egypt
Scuba enthusiasts know that the clear waters of Na'ama Bay in this Red Sea resort offer some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world. If you prefer a more cultural or historic experience, visit St. Catherine's Monastery on Mt. Sinai with a spectacular collection of illuminated manuscripts.

Sochi - Russia
The resort city of Sochi sprawls along the shores of the Black Sea, with the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains in the background. Visit the Michael Archangel Cathedral, the Sochi Art Museum, or the Arboretum.
Sorrento/Capri - Italy
Sorrento offers you many options: take a ferry to the famous island of Capri, maybe to see the Blue Grotto? Drive or sail past the Amalfi Coast to towns like Positano and Amalfi, or simply explore quaint Sorrento. Don't forget to try some Limoncello liquor!

Suez Canal Transit - Egypt
Savour the experience of passing through the Suez Canal, one of the world's greatest canals. Dating back to the 13th century, the Suez Canal opened in 1869 and connects the Mediterranean with the Red Sea. The Northern terminus is Port Said. Unlike the Panama Canal, the Suez Canal does not contain locks: sea water flows freely from the Mediterran Sea and the Red Sea. Transit can cost as much as $250,000 per ship and about 7.5% of all world sea trade passes via the canal today, to avoid the lengthy route along the tip of Africa.

Who has not heard of Venice? This wonderful city with hundreds of canals and bridges that can only be navigated by foot or by boat is a visitor's dream. Visit the Duomo cathedral, the magnificent Doge's palace, or simply sail along the Grand Canal to admire this gem as it should be admired: from the water.
Victoria, Mahe - Seychelles
Also known as Port Victoria, Victoria is the capital of the island nation of the Seychelles. First established by the British colonial government, you will see many remnants of colonial times, including a clocktower, courthouse and a national museum of history.
Walvis Bay (Swakopmund) - Namibia
Swakopmund is a beach resort as well as an example of German colonial architecture. Nearby Walvis Bay features wide open spaces, scenic beauty and a unique marine and plant life. It is one of the driest cities in the world and well suited for outdoor life, including fishing.

Yalta - Ukraine
Yalta is located on the North coast of the Black Sea and was a historically important site that still offers a beautiful seaside promenade, churches and cathredrals, and a cable car to Darsan Hill.
Zanzibar - Tanzania
36 km off the coastline of mainland Tanzania lies Zanzibar, on the island officially known as Unguja but often referred to as Zanzibar and nicknamed the "Spice Island". The island is characterised by beautiful white sandy beaches with coral reefs, excellent snorkelling and diving, deep sea fishing and water sports. A historic old town offers narrow winding streets, vivid markets and colorful bazaars.
